UK STARTUP DELIVERS WORKBOAT BUILT WITH RECYCLABLE COMPOSITE MATERIAL

UK-based marine technology startup ExoTechnologies, through its boatbuilding division Ultimate Boats in Glasgow, has successfully delivered a new workboat to Orbital Marine Power, a leading floating turbine manufacturer. The vessel, named Straumr, measures 11 meters in length and is designed to accommodate eight people.

Crafted from ExoTechnologies’ proprietary composite material, Straumr features an advanced hull design that enhances speed and efficiency in water movement. This design significantly reduces the slamming impact, thereby providing a more stable ride and achieving greater fuel efficiency.

Straumr will serve a critical role in transporting engineers to and from Orbital Marine Power’s floating tidal turbine located off the coast of Orkney, supporting the maintenance and operation of this renewable energy project. This delivery underscores ExoTechnologies’ commitment to innovative marine solutions and its impact on sustainable maritime activities.
