ExoTechnologies, based on the Isle of Man and owner of the Glasgow-based Ultimate Boats, has announced an exciting new partnership with RONN, a hydrogen vehicle manufacturer based in Arizona. This collaboration aims to develop advanced clean hydrogen electric propulsion systems for high-performance watercraft intended for commercial, tactical, and military applications.
Shane Mugan, CEO of ExoTechnologies and resident of the Isle of Man, emphasised the significance of the partnership following the signing of a letter of intent. The initiative seeks to leverage Ultimate Boats’ expertise in boat building along with RONN’s hydrogen technology to create innovative propulsion solutions that align with environmental sustainability goals.
Ultimate Boats, a National Maritime SME Awards finalist, has previously made strides in sustainable marine technology with the launch of the first fully recyclable workboat constructed from its patented DANU™ composite material for Police Scotland. Building on this innovation, Mugan expressed an ambition to push the boundaries further with RONN by developing a hydrogen-propelled craft that could disrupt the industry.
This partnership marks a significant step towards transforming the marine industry through clean energy solutions, setting the stage for a new era of environmentally friendly and high-performance marine transportation.
