Company says sustainable materials give it longer life
An Isle of Man based company has launched the worlds first fully recyclable power boat – and it will be used for patrols by Police Scotland.
ExoTechnologies, based in Douglas, produced the vessel entirely out of sustainable and recyclable material.
According to the company’s chief innovation officer, the workboat has a longer life than that of a normal boat because it has more ‘stronger’ and sustainable material.
Once its come to the end of its lifespan, it can be recycled to something else.
Jeroen Wats says its a milestone for the company:
British boat builder Ultimate Boats delivers the world’s first fully recyclable boat to Police Scotland
ExoTechnologies said its first commercial vessel is being delivered to Police Scotland, built from its fully recyclable DANUTM composite material technology. ExoTechnologies says DANUTM is the most resource-efficient composite material on the planet. The Police Scotland boat has a top speed of 50 knots and operating range of 400 nautical miles.
Sustainability can be defined as ‘the avoidance of the depletion of natural resources in order to maintain an ecological balance’.
In a fast pace and continuously evolving industry like yachting, it is to no surprise that we are seeing more and more companies searching for, developing, selling and promoting ‘sustainable’ products. But, is the industry making headway in its efforts to make yachting a more sustainable sector or there still a long way to go with crucial mistakes still being made?
We recently spoke with Jeroen Wats, Founder and Chief Innovation Officer of Exo Technologies Limited, to find out more about the need for sustainable solutions within the yachting industry.
