EXOTECHNOLOGIES AND RONN TEAM UP ON HYDROGEN PROPULSION

ExoTechnologies, an Isle of Man-based firm, and owner of the Glasgow boat builder Ultimate Boats, has announced a significant new partnership with Arizona-based hydrogen vehicle manufacturer RONN. This collaboration focuses on the development of clean hydrogen electric propulsion systems for high-performance watercraft across commercial, tactical, and military applications, all to be constructed by Ultimate Boats in Scotland.

This initiative builds upon Ultimate Boats’ recent innovations, including the launch of their first fully recyclable workboat, crafted from the patented DANU composite material, for Police Scotland last year. Looking to push the boundaries further, ExoTechnologies CEO Shane Mugan expressed his enthusiasm about taking a significant step forward with RONN to develop what he describes as an ‘industry-disrupting’ hydrogen-propelled craft.

Mugan emphasised the shared commitment between the companies, stating, “We are very excited to announce our new partnership with a pioneer like RONN. We share an outlook and passion for driving decarbonisation. We are aiming to develop a clean hydrogen electric propulsion solution for our boats. This new system will propel our recyclable high-performance craft into a new era of marine technology.”

This partnership marks a pivotal move towards sustainable marine engineering and highlights ExoTechnologies’ continued leadership in adopting and promoting green technologies within the maritime industry.
