A Glasgow boatyard has made maritime history by delivering the world’s inaugural fully recyclable working vessel, poised to revolutionize waterborne operations. Crafted with cutting-edge technology and design elements, the vessel promises to enhance officers’ response capabilities across various water-related incidents. This milestone launch by ExoTechnologies, owner of Ultimate Boats, follows a substantial £7 million investment in DANUTM composite material technology, heralded as a sustainable alternative to fibreglass. With a top speed of 50 knots and an operating range of 400 nautical miles, the vessel marks the advent of a new era in high-performance working boats. ExoTechnologies anticipates creating 300 jobs at its Glasgow yard within five years, propelled by significant interest from commercial operators and military entities. CEO Shane Mugan underscores the company’s commitment to sustainability and job creation, highlighting plans to engage potential investors and partners to scale its environmentally friendly technologies globally. The vessel, co-designed with Police Scotland, represents a collaborative effort to enhance operational capabilities, with plans for a three-year operational loan period. Assistant Chief Constable Mark Williams emphasizes the asset’s potential to improve response capabilities, underscoring the force’s dedication to innovation and public service. Mugan expresses pride in delivering this pioneering project in Scotland, showcasing the transformative power of DANUTM composite material technology. As fibreglass waste continues to accumulate, this milestone signals a critical step towards a more sustainable future for boatbuilding and environmental conservation.
