Maritime Economy : GLASGOW BOAT BUILDER ULTIMATE BOATS TO UNVEIL TWO NEW RECYCLABLE WORKBOATS AT SEAWORK

Glasgow-based Ultimate Boats is set to unveil two new workboats, the 7.5m Coastal C-Class and the 11.5m Tactical T-Class, at the upcoming Seawork trade fair in Southampton from June 13-15. These vessels are constructed using the revolutionary DANUTM composite material developed by Ultimate Boats’ owner, ExoTechnologies, which offers a recyclable alternative to traditional fiberglass, aiming to mitigate the ecological impact of boat building.

The Tactical T-Class vessel named ‘Lightning’ will be demonstrated in partnership with Hampshire Police, illustrating the company’s growing engagement with naval, law enforcement, and offshore operators. This move comes after the successful introduction of the world’s first fully recyclable workboat at last year’s Seawork, reflecting a full order book and increasing demand for greener marine solutions.

Ultimate Boats’ CEO Shane Mugan emphasized the significant role of DANUTM in transforming boat building towards a sustainable model. This material not only prevents countless boats from ending up in landfill but also supports the industry’s shift to a circular economy. The innovative ExoHullTM design, inspired by the XB-70 Valkyrie, enhances hydrodynamic performance, increases efficiency, and reduces fuel costs and emissions.

With over 30 employees and ambitious growth plans, Ultimate Boats continues to explore advanced technologies including autonomous and electric propulsion to further enhance the sustainability of their vessels. The company’s commitment to innovation was recently acknowledged at the Maritime UK Awards, with its vessel being named Patrol Boat of the Year and receiving recognition in the innovation category.
