Offshore Energy : ORBITAL MARINE POWER GETS FULLY RECYCLABLE WORKBOAT FOR OFFSHORE OPERATIONS

ExoTechnologies, a pioneering maritime green technologies startup, has successfully delivered a fully recyclable, high-performance workboat to Orbital Marine Power. Constructed from ExoTechnologies’ innovative DANUTM composite material, the vessel is designed to support Orbital Marine Power’s O2 turbine— the world’s most powerful tidal turbine situated off Orkney.

Built at the Ultimate Boats yard in Glasgow, this 11-meter O-class Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RIB) can carry eight people and is tailored for the demanding sea conditions around Orkney. It features a wheelhouse, shock mitigation units, front access, and boasts an operating range of 450 nautical miles. The vessel also incorporates ExoHullTM technology, designed to enhance movement efficiency in water, reduce slamming impact, and save fuel.

CEO Shane Mugan expressed pride in supporting Orbital Marine Power’s green energy initiatives, highlighting the vessel’s role in combating the ecological challenges posed by traditional fiberglass use in boat manufacturing. This initiative is part of ExoTechnologies’ commitment to advancing the circular economy and promoting sustainability in maritime industries.
