National Maritime : GLASGOW’S ULTIMATE BOATS DELIVERS FULLY RECYCLABLE WORKBOAT TO TIDAL TURBINE PIONEER ORBITAL MARINE.

ExoTechnologies, a Glasgow-based maritime green technology start-up and nominee for the National Maritime SME Awards, has successfully delivered a fully recyclable, high-performance workboat to Orbital Marine Power Ltd. The vessel, constructed using ExoTechnologies’ innovative DANUTM composite material, is designed to transport engineers to and from the O2 turbine—currently the world’s most powerful tidal turbine—located off the coast of Orkney.

The O2 serves as Orbital Marine Power Ltd’s first commercial demonstrator, embodying over fifteen years of extensive product development and rigorous testing conducted in Orkney. Constructed at Ultimate Boats, a boatyard owned by ExoTechnologies, this workboat is a part of a comprehensive high-performance range launched earlier this year. Additionally, ExoTechnologies has announced plans to significantly expand its operations, aiming to create 300 jobs at the Glasgow yard within the next five years. This initiative highlights the company’s commitment to fostering local employment while advancing sustainable maritime technologies.
