maritimeindustries :ULTIMATE BOATS OWNER EXOTECHNOLOGIES AND RONN STRIKE HYDROGEN PROPULSION PARTNERSHIP

ExoTechnologies, the Isle of Man-headquartered company that owns Glasgow-based boat builder Ultimate Boats, has announced a groundbreaking partnership with Arizona-based hydrogen vehicle maker, RONN. This collaboration aims to develop innovative clean hydrogen electric propulsion systems for high-performance commercial, tactical, and military watercraft.

The partnership was solidified with the signing of a letter of intent, marking a significant step towards integrating cutting-edge hydrogen technology into the marine sector. Last year, Ultimate Boats achieved a milestone by launching the first fully recyclable workboat made from its patented DANU™ composite material for Police Scotland. Building on this innovation, CEO Shane Mugan expressed enthusiasm about taking a significant leap forward with RONN to disrupt the industry with hydrogen-propelled crafts.

“We are very excited to announce our new partnership with a pioneer like the RONN,” Mugan commented. “We share an outlook and passion for driving decarbonisation and are aiming to develop a clean hydrogen electric propulsion solution for our boats. This new system will propel our recyclable high-performance craft into a new era of marine technology.”

Ronn Ford, Chairman & CEO at RONN, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the shared vision of both companies to create a sustainable future through innovative propulsion solutions. “Together, we will strive to help drive the marine industry’s transformation, leaving behind a legacy of clean energy and inspiring change for generations to come.”

The collaboration has already garnered attention, as Ultimate Boats’ work with Police Scotland was recognised when their vessel was named Patrol Boat of the Year at the recent Work Boat World Awards. This partnership promises to set new standards in marine propulsion, emphasising sustainability and innovation.
