Offshore Energy : EXOTECHNOLOGIES AND RONN STRIKE HYDROGEN PROPULSION PARTNERSHIP

ExoTechnologies, based on the Isle of Man and owner of the Glasgow boat builder Ultimate Boats, has teamed up with RONN, an Arizona-based manufacturer of hydrogen cars and trucks, to embark on a groundbreaking hydrogen propulsion partnership. This collaboration, formalised through a Letter of Intent (LoI), is set to develop clean hydrogen electric propulsion systems specifically tailored for high-performance commercial, tactical, and military watercraft, all to be constructed by Ultimate Boats in Scotland.

This partnership aims to extend the innovative trajectory that Ultimate Boats started last year with the launch of its first fully recyclable workboat, made from the patented DANU composite material, for Police Scotland. Shane Mugan, CEO of ExoTechnologies, emphasized the ambition to push even further with RONN to create an ‘industry-disrupting’ hydrogen-propelled craft. “We are very excited to announce our new partnership with a pioneer like the RONN. We share an outlook and passion for driving decarbonization. We are aiming to develop a clean hydrogen electric propulsion solution for our boats. This new system will propel our recyclable high-performance craft into a new era of marine technology,” said Mugan.

Ronn Ford, Chairman & CEO at RONN, also highlighted the transformative potential of this partnership, stating, “The power of our collaboration with ExoTechnologies is in our shared vision of creating a sustainable future through innovative propulsion solutions.”

Together, ExoTechnologies and RONN are setting the stage for significant advancements in marine propulsion technology, focusing on sustainability and cutting-edge innovation. This venture not only promises to revolutionize the way high-performance vessels are powered but also aligns with broader environmental goals by adopting clean energy solutions.
